Simply magical....

December I love this month....
the cold crisp air filled with the smell of
cinnamon, roasted nuts, tangerines and home baked goodies
soft cosy light from flickering candles
snuggling up to watch Christmas movies
sparkle and glitter everywhere
cooking the Christmas dinner for family & friends and of course eating it
listening to my favourite mix of seasonal songs
and even the pre Christmas stress doesn’t really faze me.
For me this always has been the most wonderful time of the year!
No “Bah Humbug” in me at the run up to Christmas.

Having said all this, this December has been a little different for me.
Normally I cant wait to get the decorations out
setting up the tree on Thanksgiving eve.
Not this year.... I have been feeling dare I say it a little “Bah Humbug”
I just couldn't seem to get into the festive spirit
and so our tree was put up late for the first time ever.
Truth be told, it may still not be up by now
if the Paperdolls and Mr Mc hadn’t taken the initiative.

With the tree up, slowly my festive cheer has come,
it has been slow and a little late in coming, but it is finally here.
Thank goodness!!!

.... A seasonal welcome on our front door ....

 Baking with the Paperdolls
100 & 1000s
in Christmas colours
with mini stars and Christmas trees
.... SoOoOoOoOoOo ÜBER cute ....

....Yummy cupcakes in all there festive glory....

....  Lots and lots of glitter ....
After all Christmas isn't Christmas without it!

.... Candy-canes & Teacakes ....

.... Sitting on the couch with a nice hot latte ....

.... Looking at the refection of the tree in the the mirror ....

 LoVe  LoVe  LoVe
the way it turns the mirror into a giant sparkling bauble

especially at night time!

*** Simply magical ***

How has your December been so far?

Me moments....

The last couple of weeks have been crazily busy around here,
when I try to think what with….
 then all I can say….
nothing really exiting, just that mundane boring every day stuff
that I believe we all have going on in our lives.
I did squeeze a few selfish “me” moments into the last couple of weeks....

Standing by the kitchen window having breakfast and
enjoying the first day light after a dark morning….
in peace & quiet

Munching sweet treats alone….
Teacakes my favourite at this time of year!

Getting organised for 2015….
who am I kidding?
This diary makes me giggle….
Domestic goddess ....ME?
Most definitely NOT…. more like always trying and miserable failing!!
I just couldn't resist this diary.
I LoVe it’s vintage UBER cuteness,
it has a great layout
& super handy tips for any aspiring domestic Goddess.

Sewing of a Union Jack Bunting….

One of this projects that has been swirling in my head forever and a day.
Finally it's made!
Let the next Great British event come,
this time I’m ready to hang my bunting!

I even managed to squeeze in crocheting a pot holder.
A very simple basket weave pattern, started and finished on one evening!
The kinda project I LoVe!

And the start of another little bunting….
I just need more me moments this week to get it finished!

Wishing you all a calm start to what will hopefully be a great week for you
filled with plenty of your favored me moments!

Grey days....

are made for….

….baking cookies
the smell of cookies baking in the oven is so heart warming
I can’t get enough of it

….woodland walks
so much to see and explore
the time we spend together
without any modern-day interruptions

…. woolly jumpers & tweed
it's like wearing a comforting warm hug

best invention ever

….wearing splashes of red
red on a dull day,  always makes me smile

….hot cocoa
served with all the trimmings
in a cup

....finding beauty wherever you look!

There is a reason for grey days,
you only have to appreciate the magic of them.

Have a great weekend

My favourite season....

Autumn is in full swing in Berlin,
everywhere I look there are pretty little reminders
of this beautiful time of year.

the last Roses in our garden!
I’m always besotted by natures diversity of colours.

I’m in LoVe with this Autumn♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
A feeling of change is in the air.
has it’s very own beauty....
even on a grey day  ☂

I have noticed changes in me
that comes with the beginning of Autumn....

Perfumes, colours, textures, Music, Films, TV and even Food.
My tastes in most things change....
I move from fresh soft airy open to warm cosy cuddly comforting.

Loving dark greens, browns in rich shades and strong blues
mixed with a splash of red.
It’s not like I don't like my Spring / Summer colours any more
but I’m drawn to the cosy.

On a recent shopping trip for fabric
I noticed that even when choosing cotton fabrics, I was drawn to dark blues
with browns & prints that are so not me normally.
I’m in LoVe with woollen tweeds & tartans
mixed up with a bit of denim or corduroy at this time of year.

Autumn also brings a taste changer in food,
I love light uncomplicated food,
BBQ is a firm favourite of mine all throughout summer.
But by this time of year I’m all Barbecued out
and I crave old school comfort food
savoury & sweet pies, roast dinner, even soups
....I’m most definitely not a soup kinda person the rest of the year.

this roasted vegetable soup made all from locally grown veggies,

served with homemade soda bread and salty butter.
I always make way more than can ever be eaten on one night
as this soup taste just as great for lunch the next day.

The only thing that doesn’t seem to ever change is my loving of whimsy
lovelies ....pretty  ....kitsch,
call it what you like,  I’m a sucker for it all year round.
Anyone that knows me knows
I just LoVe LoVe LoVe pretty packaging....

When I saw this salt shaker in a French Department-store
here in Berlin, I just had to buy it.
My friends would say now ....that is soooo you Anna.
It makes me smile everyday.

Autumn my favourite season.... thinking about it, I have come to realise
I’m definitely a seasons kinda person.
I wouldn't like to live somewhere were the change in seasons are so subtle
that I hardly would notice them.
I LoVe the changes that comes with each season.
I can’t tell you which is my favourite,
if you ask me today the answer is Autumn
but if you ask me on a beautiful cold crisp winters day or a lovely warm sunny spring day,
I change my mind.

Have a lovely Sunday.

P.s Have you got a favourite season?
