Oh I sOoOo
LoVe
chalkboards!!!
As you may have noticed over the past few months
from the new addition to my mantelpiece.
I always think of chalkboards as ....practically meets arty.
A beautiful cheap way of heaving ever changing art on the walls
....and it's no secret that I like a little change ever so often!
My new addition isn't all that new it has been hanging on my
dining-room wall but due to lack of dining room since the move
it just found itself a new home on my mantel.

I made this chalkboard from an old frame a few years back.
The frame was bought for a mere 4 Euros at a Flea-market,
adding a old piece of plywood painted with chalk paint
and a few of my much loved fabric roses
were glued onto the frame for a bit of whimsy.

Besides loving chalkboards I also have a real soft spot for
sayings.... pearls of wisdom.... motto's....
for me chalkboards & wise words are a match made in heaven!
I always play around with my ideas on paper first,
I have found it to be easier & a lot less messy that way.
Having a clear vision of a calligraphy design unfortunately
doesn't always mean it transfers as beautifully into reality.
Working with chalk just isn't as easy as it looks....
especially calligraphy.

Hot latte a must on my creative journeys
....wonderfully calming when things don't quite go to plan.
When failed the first time.... try and try again....
even after practicing on paper,
I still need quite a few attempts on the board itself
before I'm getting anywhere close to my "vision".

Maybe being a little to "erase happy" doesn't help,
often I regret my wipe as soon as I have done it....
often I regret my wipe as soon as I have done it....
that is the thing with chalk
it's easy to erase but sometimes it's just too easy.
Thankfully this time I reminded myself a couple of times....
....to stop and step back before reaching for the cloth,
it gave me a much better perspective on my work in progress.
Surprise....surprise....
my cloth wasn't used half as much this time.
You can never have too much Happy
Fairy lights make me very happy
I LoVe these
pretty....
beautiful....
lovely....
blush origami fairy lights!
Not sure if it's this time of year but
I keep thinking of cherry blossom looking at them!
I am seriously contemplating to buy a second set,
not that I need them at all but I'm sure I can find a use.

Beautiful! I don't know why, but I'm so intimidated by chalkboard writing. You did it perfectly!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Anna, and so true... Wishing you a wonderful evening.

Your chalkboard is just lovely, the writing is so neat. I love your roses, did you make them yourself? They'd be perfect as brooches.
ReplyDeleteI saw miss the Durrells too, so glad they are making another series.
Have a lovely weekend.
